The story behind Clon Circus Uganda

A circus family.
A world of
possibility.

We begin with a young person.
Not just the skill they can perform,
but the future they can imagine.

Clon Circus Uganda is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation (NGO) based in Mahanga village, Nagongera, Tororo District, Uganda. We bring circus arts, education and everyday care together.

Where it began

A training ground.
A reason to
keep showing up.

Fredrick Lugard (Owor) founded Clon Circus Uganda in 2022, with acrobatics and gymnastics at its heart.

In Nagongera, Tororo district, young people come together to practise, learn and be part of a team. A balance or a human pyramid asks for attention and trust: each person depends on someone else.

The work reaches beyond those shared skills. School fees, learning materials, meals, clothing and care are part of the same conversation. They help make room for a young person to learn and grow.

Clon Circus Uganda supports children facing difficult circumstances, including the loss of dependable family care. Their circumstances are not the whole of who they are. Their personalities, interests and possibilities matter, too.

The purpose that holds it together

Circus opens the door.
Care keeps possibility open.

Our mission is to support children who have lost parental care or experienced life on the streets. Through essential skills, education and practical care, we aim to help them grow into compassionate, hardworking people who contribute to their community.

01

Belonging before applause.

A place in the team matters beyond the performance. Shared practice creates opportunities to listen, cooperate and encourage one another.

02

School alongside skill.

Circus training is one part of a young person’s life. Support with fees and learning materials helps protect time and opportunity for education.

03

Care in everyday details.

Meals, clothing, rest and practical support belong beside coaching. Young people need care as people, not only encouragement as performers.

What happens
around the
performance?

The moments on stage are only one window into Clon Circus Uganda. A school term, a shared meal and an afternoon of practice each bring their own needs.

Keep learning in reach

School fees and materials are recurring needs. Education support sits alongside circus training.

Make room for practice

The usual training window is 4:00–6:30 PM, weather permitting. Arrange visits with the team first.

Look after everyday life

Food, clothing, rest and other practical essentials are part of the wider mission.

Our vision

The Clon Circus
Uganda Centre.

A future ambition

Our vision is a dedicated centre where children who have lost parental care or experienced life on the streets can find a secure home, develop their talents and continue their education.

We aim to bring shelter, a circus school, a training ground and a performance venue together. This centre has not yet been built; acquiring land is an early priority.

Land and a secure home

Acquire land for the centre and build safe shelter for children who need a stable home.

A circus school and training ground

Create space for coaching, learning and developing talents alongside the children’s school education.

A place for audiences

Build a performance area with seating where local people and visitors can enjoy acrobatics, juggling and circus arts.

Income that supports everyday care

Use ticket income and donations to help fund education, clothing, medical care and food.

How the model would work

Performances that help sustain care.

The planned seating area would welcome local people and visitors to performances featuring acrobatics, circus arts and juggling. Alongside donations, ticket income is intended to support the children’s education, clothing, medical needs and food.

The goal is to build a dependable source of support over time, while keeping education and the children’s wellbeing at the centre of the work.

What we hope it will make possible

Skills, community and opportunity.

  • A stable environment for children to learn, train and grow in confidence.
  • A stronger foundation for meeting ongoing education and care needs.
  • Community participation through performances that bring local people and visitors together.
  • Cultural exchange through Ugandan circus arts and opportunities to learn about the organisation’s work.

Progress will come step by step. The team welcomes conversations about land, facilities and partnerships.
